Payne scores eight for Austin

Hawks rookie Adreian Payne had eight points and six rebounds for the Austin Spurs in a 112-93 NBA Development League win over the Santa Cruz Warriors Friday night.

Payne, the 15th overall pick, was 1 of 8 from the field and 6 of 8 from the free-throw line. The center also had two assists, one steal, one block and four turnovers in 25 minutes. It is the third D-League assignment for Payne, who also did two stints with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.

Payne will continue the assignment with Austin on Sunday when it hosts the Oklahoma Cith Blue.
