The Georgia women’s basketball team closed out the regular season with a 63-43 home victory over Florida at Stegeman Coliseum on Sunday.

The Lady Bulldogs (24-5, 12-4 SEC) clinched the No. 3 seed and a double bye in the upcoming SEC Tournament which begins Friday in Nashville.

Under coach Joni Taylor, Georgia (16-15, 7-9 last season) had its biggest overall turnaround since former coach Andy Landers’ first season.

Georgia won its 10th SEC game by double-digits. Eight players scored led by four in double digits – Mackenzie Engram (12), Gabby Connally (12), Caliya Robinson (11) and Taja Cole (10).

“I think everybody has embraced their role,” Engram said. “When they are called up, they are ready. Last year we were dependent on two or three players, but this year it is everyone. You never know who is going to step up. That gives us a lot of weapons and makes things hard for other teams. We play together this year.”

The Lady Bulldogs were strong from start to finish. They took a big lead with a 13-2 run in the final 3:47 of the first quarter. They allowed Florida just two field goals in the fourth quarter, including a 3-pointer at the final buzzer.
