When they are in Washington next week for a make-up game against the Wizards, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. will be on the Hawks' itinerary.

The team and the White House have set up a visit before the Hawks' shootaround next Thursday on the morning of their game against Washington. Team PR man Arthur Triche has been working on the details since the end of last season.

"I think the Bulls went last year, which makes sense since [President Obama] is from Chicago," Triche said. "The word got out around the NBA that teams would have the ability to visit the White House if they could. We decided to see if we could make it happen. Thankfully, it did."

President Obama's penchant for hoops is no secret. He was often seen playing pickup games during the presidential campaign and had a White House tennis court re-purposed into a court. He attended a Wizards game shortly after taking office in 2009.

Triche said an actual meeting with the president is uncertain and will depend on his schedule.
