Hawks top Pelicans in exhibition opener

De’Andre Bembry scored 20 points to lead five players in double figures as the Atlanta Hawks defeated New Orleans 116-102 Monday in their exhibition opener at McCamish Pavilion.

John Collins added 18 points and Alex Poythress 13 as the Hawks (1-0) won in Lloyd Pierce’s preseason coaching debut. Rookie Trae Young and Tyler Dorsey scored 11 each for the Hawks.

Anthony Davis had 16 points and seven rebounds to lead New Orleans (0-2).
