The Hawks released forward Ryan Kelly Tuesday night. The move brings the training camp roster to 18 players.

Kelly signed a non-guaranteed contract with the Hawks this summer. He appeared in all six of the team’s exhibition games this preseason, including Tuesday’s win over the Pelicans. He totaled 29 points (4.8 average), 16 rebounds and eight assists. He played 6:25 against the Pelicans and finished with two points, a put-back, one-handed dunk. He also had two rebounds.

Kelly, 25, was a second-round pick of the Lakers in 2013 out of Duke. He played three seasons with the Lakers and averaged 6.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 20.5 minutes.

The Hawks must trim their roster to a maximum of 15 players before the start of the regular season on Oct. 27.
