The Hawks recalled Lamar Patterson the NBA Development League on Friday. The rookie guard had been with the Austin Spurs and played during the D-League playoffs.

Patterson, the guard/forward, is insurance should Tim Hardaway Jr. not be able to play after suffering a right hamstring injury in the regular-season finale Wednesday.

Patterson had four points, two assists and two rebounds for the Austin Spurs in a loss to the Los Angeles D-Fenders in Game 1 of their best-of-three Western Conference series Thursday night.

According to a person familiar with the situation, it’s “premature” to say Hardaway Jr. will not be available for the Hawks in Game 1 of their first-round NBA playoff series against the Celtics on Saturday. The Hawks are required to issue an injury report by 5 p.m. Friday.
