The Hawks recalled Mike Muscala from a G League assignment on Sunday. The forward/center played two games for the Erie BayHawks in the stint as he worked to return from a left ankle sprain.

Muscala had 14 points and six rebounds in Erie’s 119-110 win over Santa Cruz Saturday. He also had 13 points and two rebounds in Erie’s 111-104 win over Fort Wayne Thursday. He started both games at center. Muscala played one other game for Erie last week and had 12 points and one rebound.

Muscala has been out after suffering the injury on Nov. 3. He has missed the past 27 games due to the injury.

“Today is a big day for (Muscala) in terms of his health and his ankle,” Hawks coach Budenholzer said before Saturday’s game against the Trail Blazers. “See if he can play a couple games consecutively, feel good and come out of those in a good place.”

The Hawks begin a five-game western road trip at the Suns on Tuesday.

DeAndre Bembry was also assigned to Erie with Muscala on Wednesday and will remain with the team. Bembry totaled 24 points, 15 rebounds, seven assists, four steals and one block in 62 minutes over his two games, both starts.

“With DeAndre, I think we are going to take it day by day and see how it goes and what we think is best for him and his development,” Budenholzer said.

The BayHawks next play Wednesday at the Delaware.
