What they said after the Hawks’ 106-103 victory over the Pistons Friday night:
Mike Budenholzer
Opening statement: "I think winning on road and playing a team that is playing well, it's never easy to win on the road in this league," Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said. "Trying to look on the positives. It really wasn't the way we wanted to finish, really the whole second half but I think you have to give them credit. They started shooting lights out. Their defense picked up. They did a lot of things to turn their game around. We'll have to learn from it and play better in second halves."
On trying to stop Pistons' momentum: "There were a few small, just trying to be more aggressive type things. (Brandon) Jennings got going and other guys were going. It's a credit to them stringing us out and making us run around in the second half."
On time spent during review with two seconds left: "You almost have to cover three different scenarios. You have to cover if it's our ball, if it's their ball and if it's a jump ball. We kind of talked about a little bit of everything and we still had time."
Al Horford
On final inbounds play: "I thought (Greg) Monroe hit it last but I guess I did. It showed on the film. I'm just happy that we got away with a win, man. They kept fighting. They kept doing things. You have to give them credit. They are a resilient team."
On the difference in the two halves: "They stayed aggressive. I felt like we got a little passive there at the end. They just kept attacking us."
On what Budenholzer drew up during inbounds review: "The same play we were going to run, we were going to run again to get the ball inbounds. On defense, he was like 'If they get the ball, Al you have to be all over the ball on the inbounds pass.'"
Kyle Korver
On trying to stop Pistons' momentum: "There is a whole slew of things we should have done differently. I cannot foul a 3-point shooter. We left them open for a couple 3s. You have to give them credit they came back and made a couple 3s. (Kentavious) Caldwell-Pope, I don't think he made many shots at all and he just stayed aggressive and got them back in the game. That says lot about him as a player. We couldn't get the ball inbounds. There is just a whole line of things. I'm going to hate watching the film going home tonight. It's going to keep me up later than I want to be. There were also a lot of good things that happened."
DeMarre Carroll
On game: "We got the win but at the same time we've got a lot to work on. I think we got too comfortable. We were up by 20. Everything was kind of easy. Then we got complacent and started settling for shots instead of playing Hawks basketball."
On current winning-streak: "This is amazing. I think the last time I won this many consecutive games was my senior year in college when we went to the Elite Eight. That's what it feels like right now. It feels like I'm in college and I'm living my senior year all over again."
Paul Millsap
On the difference between the two halves: "The first half was the epitome of how we want to play. That is who we are. The second half we got away from that a little bit. They made a nice little run. But give them credit. They are a good team."
On current winning streak: "Not in my NBA career. It's amazing. I think you can tell by the locker room, guys are not satisfied. Guys are still hungry. Guys still want to win. Hopefully, this is another day at the office and we got out Sunday and do it again."
