Hawks center Al Horford was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for Dec. 15-21, the NBA announced Monday. It is the second time he has won the honor in his career.

Horford helped the Hawks to a 3-0 record with impressive wins over the Bulls, Cavaliers and Rockets. During the stretch, he led the team in scoring with 18.3 points per game. He also added 6.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.7 blocks and 1.0 steals. He shot 60.5 percent from the field.

“I’m honored but more happy for our team the way we have been playing,” Horford told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I look forward for us to keep getting better.”

Here is a look at Horford’s week:

* Had 21 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in a 93-86 win over the Bulls Monday.

* Had 20 points on 10-of-14 shooting, and added four assists and two blocks in a 127-98 win at the Cavaliers Wednesday.

* Had 14 points and added eight rebounds, five assists, three blocks and one steal in a 104-97 win at the Rockets Saturday.

LaMarcus Aldridge of the Trail Blazers was honored in the Western Conference. He led his team to a 4-0 week with 26.3 points and 14.3 rebounds.

The Hawks are 19-7 and in second place in the Eastern Conference headed into Monday’s game at the Mavericks.

Jeff Teague and Paul Millsap have been nominees for the award this season.

Other nominees were the Celtics’ Kelly Olynyk, Bulls’ Jimmy Butler, Cavaliers’ LeBron James, Mavericks’ Monta Ellis, Clippers’ Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan, Pelicans’ Anthony Davis, Trail Blazers’ Damian Lillard, and Raptors’ Kyle Lowry.
