The Hawks are in their first year under new ownership, led by Tony Ressler, who made a practice facility a priority when he took over the team at the end of last season.

The Hawks will announce plans for a new practice facility this afternoon, according to a person familiar with the situation.

The facility will be in partnership with Emory Healthcare for a 90,000 square foot complex.

The Hawks will hold a 2 p.m. press conference to release the details of the facility and partnership. Attending the conference will be Hawks principal owner Tony Ressler, CEO Steve Koonin and President of Basketball Operations and head coach Mike Budenholzer and Doctor Scott Boden, the Director of The Emory Orthopaedics and Spine Center and Chief Medical Officer at Emory University Orthopaedics and Spine Hospital.

The team has long desired a dedicated practice facility and have explored many options for the past several years. New ownership, led Ressler, has made a facility a priority.

NBA teams joining medical facilities for practice and training complexes has become a trend in the league. The Timberwolves (Mayo Clinic), Cavaliers (Cleveland Clinic) and Bulls (Advocate Center) have all recently opened such practice facilities.
