The Hawks formally acquired Thabo Sefolosha on Tuesday, but the move came via a sign-and-trade with the Thunder. The deal, which did not involve any major players, will net the Thunder salary-cap flexibility

The Hawks acquired Sefolosha and the draft rights to prospect Giorgos Printezis for a $4 million trade exception and the rights to Sofoklis Schortsanitis. Neither Printezis nor Schortsanitis, who both play overseas, are expected to come to the NBA.

The Hawks agreed to a three-year, $12 million contract with Sefolosha earlier this month as an unrestricted free agent.

“Thabo is an unselfish, competitive and playoff-tested player and does many things well on both sides of the ball,” Hawks general manager Danny Ferry said of the guard/forward. “He also fills a need, giving us more size and depth at the wing position. He’s been a part of winning programs and will fit our culture well.”

Sefolosha, 30, played and started in 61 games last season with the Thunder and averaged 6.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.3 steals in 26.0 minutes.

Hawks drop to 0-3: The Hawks ended preliminary-round play in the Las Vegas Summer League with a 91-76 loss to the Trail Blazers at the Cox Pavilion on the UNLV campus Tuesday. The Hawks lost to the Wizards and D-League Select team earlier in the tournament.

The Hawks will begin the seeded double-elimination portion of the tournament. They will play Wednesday against an opponent to be determined following seeding late Tuesday.

Dennis Schroder led the Hawks with 16 points. He had six turnovers in the game, three in the first quarter when the Hawks committed eight in the period. Mike Muscala and Adreian Payne each had 13 points and seven rebounds for the Hawks. Undrafted free agent Stephen Holt, out of St. Mary’s, had 10 points.

The Trail Blazers (2-1) were led by C.J. McCollum with a game-high 28 points. Will Barton added 17 points.

“We didn’t compete today,” Hawks summer-league coach Darvin Ham said.

The Hawks finished with 21 turnovers that led to 22 Trail Blazers points, many of the slam-dunk variety.

Jenkins limited: John Jenkins, who is returning from season-ending back surgery, started the game. He played only eight minutes and did not return for the second half. He did not score and had one shot attempt.

Jenkins appeared to be injured in the second quarter and was visited by trainers after leaving the game. The Hawks said the move simply was a precaution as Jenkins works his way back into game shape and speed.

Jenkins did not play in the Hawks’ second game Sunday in a planned day off with back-to-back games.

Millsap getting exposure: Abraham Millsap has seen limited action for the Hawks in summer league, but he is happy with the exposure.

Millsap, the brother of Hawks’ All-Star forward Paul Millsap, looks to continue his career overseas.

“It’s been a wonderful experience,” Millsap said. “Getting to practice and getting a couple minutes, it’s been a great development process for me at the start of my pro career. I’m getting experience playing around live NBA players.”

Wear off roster: Travis Wear is no longer on the Hawks' summer-league roster. The undrafted free agent out of UCLA could join another team. He played in one game for the Hawks, a 5-minute, 13-second stint in Sunday's loss to the D-League and scored three points.
