Tim Hardaway Jr. was listed as questionable on the Hawks injury report Friday in advance of Game 1 of their first-round playoff series against the Celtics. The backup shooting guard suffered a right groin strain in Wednesday’s regular-season finale against the Wizards with less than a minute left in the third quarter and did not return. The injury was orginally listed as a right hamstring strain.
“We will monitor him for the next 24 hours and see how he is feeling, how he is doing,” Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said.
Hardaway Jr. took part in pre- and post-practice work, which included some light shooting, according to Budenholzer. He did not practice during the live portion of the workout which included a scrimmage.
Hardaway was not made available to the media following practice Friday.
Hardaway averaged 6.4 points and 1.7 rebounds in 51 regular-season games for the Hawks.
The Hawks recalled rookie Lamar Patterson from the NBA Development League on Friday as insurance. Patterson was assigned to the Austin Spurs and playing the Western Conference final series.
Light moment: Budenholzer was asked about Lakers guard Kobe Bryant taking 50 shots on his way to a 60-point game in the final game of his career Wednesday. Budenholzer joked "Has a Hawk taken 20 shots this year?" For the record, the most shot attempts by a Hawks player this season was 24 by Paul Millsap on Feb. 20 against Milwaukee. He was 10 of 24 from the field and had 27 points.
Tickets: According to the Hawks, as of Friday afternoon a limited number of tickets for Game 1 were still available.
Volt Out: The Hawks are calling Game 1 a 'Volt Out' by giving all fans in attendance a volt green T-shirt.
