Quote of the game
“We are glad that we won. I think we’ll take a lot of positives from the first half. But we know it’s going to be a long series. We won Game 1 at home. We didn’t play well in the second half. We know we are going to have to play better to win. But at the same time playoff wins are huge and you’ll take any of them.” – Kyle Korver
Report card
Offense: B-minus
The Hawks started fast, scoring 30 first-quarter points and shooting 46 percent from the field. The shooting percentages declined as the game went on and the Hawks finished shooting 41 percent. The third-quarter was bad. Losing a 19-point lead was worse. The Hawks shot 5 of 27 from 3-point range. The bench had 16 points, 14 from Scott.
Defense: C
Credit the Hawks for some stifling defense in the first half. But they let the Celtics back in a game in which they led by 19 points. Their transition defense was bad in the second half. After containing Celtics’ point guard Isaiah Thomas in the first half (six points), they did not in the second half (21 points). In the end, they got some key stops and rebounds that matter.
