Edy Tavares will not play in Thursday’s Las Vegas Summer League game against the Nuggets with a mild oblique strain.

Tavares, the 7-foot-3 center, appeared in the Hawks’ first four summer league games. The injury is not considered serious.

Brandon Ashley started in place of Tavares with Stephen Holt, Lamar Patterson, Terran Petteway and Mike Muscala.

The Hawks (2-2) are in the winner’s bracket side of the tournament after defeating the Heat Wednesday. The Nuggets defeated the Hawks in a preliminary round game.
