The Dream resigned forward DeLisha Milton-Jones to a seven-day contract, the team announced Wednesday.

Milton-Jones is 10th on the WNBA career scoring list with 5,537 points and is eight games shy of tying Tina Thompson's WNBA record for most games played (496). While she has played sparingly for the Dream this season, she's embraced her leadership role.

The 17th-year veteran, acquired by the Dream last season in a trade, has appeared in six games and totaled 38 minutes, second-lowest among Dream players. Milton-Jones missed the first three games of the season as she recovered from a ruptured right Achilles tendon suffered last season.

Milton-Jones returned to the floor June 12 but didn’t dress for other contests. After nearly a month-long absence, Milton-Jones played in three of the Dream’s final four games before the All-Star break. She’s averaging two rebounds and less than a point per game.

Monday, the Dream traded center Erika DeSouza for two forwards and a 2016 first-round pick. With Milton-Jones resigning, the Dream have seven front court players on the roster.

The Dream begin the second half of the season last in the Eastern Conference and with a game at San Antonio Wednesday night. The Dream traded rookie point guard Samantha Logic to the Stars earlier this season.

The Stars will be without reserve forward/center Danielle Adams, who is serving a three-game suspension for an unspecified violation of the WNBA’s anti-drug program.
