No decision has been made as to whether Paul Millsap will be back in the Hawks’ lineup for Sunday’s game against the Nets.
Millsap will miss his fourth consecutive game with tightness in his left knee when the Hawks play at the Bucks on Friday. The starting power forward was a late scratch against the Trail Blazers last week when the injury became an issue in pregame warm-ups. The team announced the following day that he would miss the following two games.
Millsap also missed road games against the Hornets and Wizards. He did not rejoin the team for the final game of the trip, against the Bucks.
“It had nothing to do with travel,” Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said of Millsap remaining in Atlanta. “I just don’t think he’s in a place where he could play. We’ll see how the next 24-48 hours go and keep evaluating it.”
In announcing that Millsap would miss two games, the team said his status would be updated when appropriate.
“I don’t think we ever thought it would be just two games,” Budenholzer said. “We thought we’d re-evaluate it after two games.”
Budenholzer has said he considered the injury short term.
The Hawks are 0-6 without Millsap this season. He missed three games earlier this season with a left hip injury.
The Hawks also will play without starting shooting guard Kent Bazemore for a third consecutive game. Bazemore suffered a bone bruise in his right knee late in the game against the Trail Blazers. After an MRI exam, the Hawks announced Sunday he would be treated and re-evaluated in 7-10 days. He also will miss the game against the Nets.
“He’s making progress,” Budenholzer said of Bazemore. “We’ll get through the weekend and see where he is.”
