Longtime NBA sideline reporter Craig Sager was paid tribute in death Tuesday when he was awarded his first Sports Emmy for outstanding sports personality.

It was Sager’s first Emmy in a career that spanned more than three decades.

Sager, who lived in Canton, died in Decemeber after a well-publicized two-year battle with leukemia.

Sager was known as much for his in-game interviews during TNT broadcasts as he was for his colorful, and often garish outfits.

He was inducted into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame just a few days before his death.

Sager was one of three Turner Sports personalities to earn a Sports Emmy, NBA analyst Charles Barkley won for best studio analyst and NCAA basketball analyst Bill Raftery won for best sports event analyst.
