What they said after the Hawks’ 85-83 loss to the Clippers Wednesday:
"It's a tough loss. Both teams got after it defensively. Both teams gave each other a lot of trouble. 85-83 is like a throw-back game. Jamal Crawford made some tough shots. DeAndre Jordan stepped up and made some free throws. We had opportunities when we had the lead. We weren't able to keep it. Didn't make enough plays down the stretch. But I think if we keep playing defense like that, keep competing like that, I think good things will happen. The defense is going in a good direction. We just have to get going offensively." – Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer's opening statement
"Those were both good opportunities but neither one went down. We feel good about both those opportunities." – Budenholzer on two Paul Millsap misses in final seconds
"Just in general our offense, whether it's turning it over or lack of execution in different situations. They were aggressive at times. They got up into us and pressured us. I don't know that we moved the ball quick enough or made quick enough decisions. That's when you end up turning it over. Twenty-three is a lot. We don't want to have that." – Budenholzer on turnovers
"I think our defense gave us a chance tonight. Our shots weren't falling. We had way too many turnovers, including myself. It was one of those nights when we gave ourselves a chance by getting a stop and a great look. It was a tough loss." – Kent Bazemore on loss
"Hell of a move. I just missed it. For whatever reason, I don't know. I can make that shot, of course." – Paul Millsap on final miss
"A little bit, but it's no excuse. You've got to make that. I just have to be better." – Millsap on whether he was undercut on final attempt
"It was the last option. They did a good job all night of taking away our first and second options. The play broke down so you can't be afraid to make a play." – Millsap on final attempt
"Just trying to make a play so we can get the ball back and have a chance. I knew Chris (Paul) was going to get the ball so I just decoyed like I wasn't guarding him tight and then jump in at the last second." – Jeff Teague on last second steal to set up final chance
"Killed us. They did a good job and had active hands. We just didn't take care of it tonight. It came back and bit us." – Teague on Hawks' 23 turnovers
"The play was completely broken. That was not what it was drawn up to be at all. I just found myself with the ball up top and Al (Horford) set a screen. I was able to step into one." – Kyle Korver on 3-pointer to give Hawks lead with 24.6 seconds left
