DeMarre Carroll was awarded the Jason Collier Memorial Trophy Monday.
The forward is the eighth recipient of the trophy named for the former Hawks player who passed away in 2005. It is awarded annually, since the 2005-06 season, to the Hawks player who best exemplifies the characteristics Collier displayed off the court as a community ambassador.
Carroll has participated in several community and charitable events in his two seasons with the Hawks. He hosted a Thanksgiving dinner for the Genesis Shelter in November and hosted 19 families from the Decatur YMCA at a Hawks game and holiday gifts in December.
The Jason Collier Memorial Foundation donated 100 tickets and No. 40 T-shirts for Monday’s game against the Knicks, the final regular-season game of the season.
Past recipients were Josh Childress (2005-06 and 2006-07), Marvin Williams (2007-08 and 2010-11), Al Horford (2008-09), Josh Smith (2009-10), Zaza Pachulia (2011-12), Devin Harris (2012-13) and Kyle Korver (2013-14).
