Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said he has spoken with Dwight Howard concerning the center be ejected from Friday’s loss to the Hornets.

Howard was issued a Flagrant Foul 2 after an elbow to the head of the Hornets’ Cody Zeller in the fourth quarter.

“He is going to box out,” Budenholzer said Sunday afternoon before the Hawks played at the Knicks. “He is a physical player. His physical presence is a big part of us. Hopefully, he can find ways to be physical, let the other team feel him but still do it within the confines of what is appropriate. To be ejected was probably the right thing. He knows it. He also knows he wants to continue to play physical and be a presence on the boards. That’s part of it. I think it was an unfortunate play.”

Howard was ejected with 5:38 remaining and the Hawks holding a three-point lead. The Hornets scored the next nine points, including a pair of driving layups, in the 100-96 victory.
