What they said after the Hawks’ 101-90 win over the Bucks Friday:
"There are a tough matchup, I think, for anybody. Their wings (Jabari) Parker and (Giannnis) Antetokounmpo are hard to match up with. Defensively, they give us trouble. To win a game when we don't shoot the 3-ball that well, we get on the offensive boards, Jeff (Teague) has a pretty amazing stretch in the fourth quarter, Kyle (Korver) lays out on the floor for a loose ball, a lot of good things to find a way to win this game. We didn't shoot it all that well and still found a way to get to 101 (points). A lot of positives." - Coach Mike Budenholzer's opening statement
"Trying to take away the paint and keep them on the perimeter. To do some degree, we had some success with that. Parker actually hit a handful of mid-range jumpers and Antetokounmpo had one or two. I think they are (top) in scoring in the paint. We wanted to do our best to take that away." – Budenholzer on defensive job on Parker and Antetokounmpo
"He's been playing really well. I will say that. I think a little bit of it was gut feel. Those four wings, some nights Tim (Hardaway Jr.) is playing well and Kyle doesn't play as much. I think all four of them you can mix and match. There is a point where you have to have some steadiness and they have to know, but I think Thabo is shooting it well and playing well overall. So, we're going with him a little bit more but it can change night to night." – Budenholzer on increased playing time for Thabo Sefolosha
"I think it was our defensive intensity. And when we were getting stops, everybody was just running, filling the lanes and getting easy baskets." – Tim Hardaway Jr. on holding off Bucks
"I sucked the rest of the game so I tried to do something to help the team when I was out there on the floor." – Jeff Teague on 12-point fourth quarter
"It was just me attacking. I think I was being a little casual just seeing what the defense would give me. I made a concerted effort to drive the ball." – Teague on drives to basket
"I think we came up with pushing them left a little bit to try to make them uncomfortable to pass the ball. Basically, playing the review on the pick-and-roll and that was good for us." – Thabo Sefolosha on defensive effort on Bucks' wings
"I think we gave them way to much in the first half. I think we definitely did a lot better in the second half as far as not giving them too many second-chance points and not getting too many layups." – Sefolosha on limiting Bucks' points in paint
"Jeff Teague stepped up in a big way. … He came in and sparked us. That was big." – Al Horford on Jeff Teague
"Our guards really took the challenge and did a great job defending the pick-and-roll and keeping their man in front of them." – Horford on limiting Bucks' points in paint
"It was defense tonight. This is a team that has given us problems that past couple years with their size and their length. I thought our defense and trying to match their physicality was the key for us. Trying to pack the paint on them. Try to make them shoot more jump shots. They are a tough team for us to play against. They made a couple runs but I thought we stuck to what we wanted to do and scraped one out." – Kyle Korver on win
