Elton Brand is not ready to say this is his final season.

The Hawks center is in the home stretch of his 16th NBA season. Brand said Friday he will wait until after the season is over before making a decision about his future.

“At this point, I’m 36, it’s all about the end of the season and how you feel,” Brand told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “The first two weeks you take off and then see if you have the energy to train and come back at a high level.”

So, no farewell tour?

“Not technically,” Brand said. “It’s not on paper yet. We’ll see how the season plays out.”

Brand has spent the past two seasons with the Hawks on one-year deals. He played for $4 million last season and signed a $2 million deal to return this summer.

The Hawks’ elder statesman, who turned 36 on March 11, has played sparingly this season. He has appeared in just 22 games and averaged 2.8 points and 3.2 rebounds in 13.4 minutes.
