The Hawks will be without Kyle Korver for at least one more game.
The starting shooting guard did not travel with the team to Minnesota and will miss Wednesday’s game against the Timberwolves. It will be the fourth consecutive missed game for Korver, who is suffering from back spasms.
There remains no timetable for Korver’s return. Coach Mike Budenholzer said Monday he didn’t expect the injury to be long term, but there was no definitive return date.
Korver missed four games earlier this season with a bruised rib. He missed five consecutive games last season because of back spasms. One of the games in the stretch was also for the birth of his daughter.
Korver, the NBA leader in 3-point field goal percentage, has averaged 12.3 points in 62 games this season. The Hawks have struggled from 3-point range without Korver. They have lost three consecutive games and have not managed more than eight 3-pointers in each game. In the previous six games, including five wins, the Hawks made at least 11 3-pointers.
As a team, the Hawks have made 10 or more 3-pointers in a franchise-record 28 games this season.
“Kyle gets as much or more attention as any player in the league as far as a shooter,” Budenholzer said before Monday’s loss to the Suns. “That is an edge that we feel fortunate to have, but we also feel we should be fine without him (with other players on the roster).”
