Anthony Edwards has been named a finalist for the Naismith Player of the Year award for high school boys basketball. Edwards, from Holy Spirit Preparatory School, recently committed to play collegiately at Georgia.
Edwards, a 6-foot-5 combo guard, is a consensus 5-star prospect and a McDonald’s All-American. He is ranked the No. 1 overall player in America by 247Sports.com, but he is No. 2 prospect in 247Sports’ widely recognized composite ratings, which take into account all recognized player rankings.
Edwards is a finalist with Cole Anthony (Oak Hill Academy/Undecided), Vernon Carey Jr. (NSU University School/Duke), Isaiah Stewart (La Lumiere School/Washington) and James Wiseman (East High School/Memphis).
The winner will be announced March 15.
