It's a peculiar look, but functional.

Braves rookie shortstop Dansby Swanson, a Cobb County native who made his major league debut with Atlanta this season, is attached to his glove.

In a promotional spot (video above), filmed during spring training, Swanson talks about is Wilson A2K glove. Here are some nuggets:

• He names his gloves. The tan-leathered mitt he used during the College World Series with Vanderbilt was called Charlotte. "Blonde, it resonated like that."

• His glove is never far. "I like to keep it with me and not under the bus."

• He places his hat, head or headphones case in it to maintain the shape wide open. "Keeps it from getting smashed."

• The words "All Dai" are stitched on his glove as a tribute to former Vanderbilt basketball player and childhood friend Dai-Jon Paker, who drowned in a boating accident in an Indiana reservoir. Parker was a star guard at Milton High School.

Swanson hit his first homer for the Braves - an inside-the-park dash - Tuesday night in Washington.
