Weather allows Braves to re-adjust rotation

July 22, 2018

Saturday’s rainout eliminated the Braves’ need for a fifth starter on Tuesday.

The Braves were expected to choose between Max Fried and Luiz Gohara, likely Fried, for a game at the Marlins. They’ll instead use Julio Teheran.

Sean Newcomb, who was scheduled to pitch Saturday, will start Monday against the Marlins. All-Star Mike Foltynewicz was still scheduled to pitch the series finale in Washington on Sunday, weather permitting.

The weather radar suggests heavy rain throughout Sunday afternoon, but the teams will try to get the game in.

Entering Sunday, the Braves had won five of their last six against the Nationals. A victory Sunday would make them 3-1-1 in their last five series in Washington.
