Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said it would still be “a while” before reliever Jordan Walden is back throwing off a mound. Walden has been on the disabled list for two weeks with a strained left hamstring.

After being checked by a Braves team doctor Monday, it was determined Walden hasn’t regained enough strength in his hamstring to risk further injury by throwing off a mound.

“I can’t go out there an aggravate it and start all over again,” Walden said. “It’s just one of those things where it’s slow.”

Walden’s problems are compounded by such an unorthodox delivery, which puts that much more stress on his legs.

“It’s the left leg that he lands on,” Gonzalez said. “So we’ve got to make sure that’s right because if it’s not that can lead into other stuff with his arm. He may be a little longer.”
