D.L. HALL LHP

Selected with the 21st pick

School: Valdosta High School Class: Sr.

Hometown: Valdosta

Perhaps not the top left-handed pitcher available in the draft, he was surely second-best to North Carolinian Mackenzie Gore. An FSU signee, Hall has a fastball that touches 94 mph but some scouts are more enamored of his devastating curve, which is rated among the best of the prep class this year. A newer changeup remains a work in progress.

After two seasons at Houston County High, where he led the program to the Class AAAAA state championship last year, he returned home to Valdosta for his senior year, only to see the Wildcats go 16-17.

Hall had been slotted as a top 15 pick. His frame suggests he can add some weight, which ups his value. His most frequent comparison is to Scott Kazmir, the 15th pick of the 2002 draft (New York Mets) who put together a solid 12-year career.
