DENVER – Braves left fielder Justin Upton left Tuesday night’s late game against the Rockies with a strained left hamstring and was listed as day-to-day.

Upton apparently injured the leg while running to first base on a first-inning infield single that caromed off the glove of Rockies pitcher Juan Nicasio. He stayed in the game for the rest of the seven-run, seven-hit Braves inning, but was replaced by Jordan Schafer in the field when the Rockies batted in the bottom of the first.

Andrelton Simmons hit a first-inning grand slam and Freddie Freeman and Evan Gattis each hit bases-empty homers in the fourth inning for the Braves, who led 10-6 through four innings.
