9 top-paid Braves in 2015

The nine highest paid players on the Braves' payroll for 2015

Fredi Gonzalez managed a $112 million Braves roster in 2014. With the exodus free agents and the recent trades of homegrown stars Jason Heyward and Tommy La Stella, the Braves will have a different lineup next season. Following are the highest paid players on the Braves' payroll for 2015:

Justin Upton, OF, $14.5 million: The Braves acquired outfielder Justin Upton via trade from the Diamondbacks before the 2013 season. In 2010, he signed a $51.25 million deal that runs through the 2015 season. His no-trade list for 2014-15 off-season includes the Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians, Milwaukee Brewers and Toronto Blue Jays.

B.J. Upton, OF, $14.45 million: The Braves signed free agent outfielder B.J. Upton to a five-year deal worth $75.25 million in 2013. His salary rises $1 million in 2016 and another $2 million in 2017.

Dan Uggla, 2B, $13 million: The Braves released second baseman Dan Uggla last season but are still obligated to pay him the remaining $13.2 million of a five-year, $62 million extension he agreed to when the Braves acquired him in 2011. Uggla remains a free agent.

Craig Kimbrel, RHP, $9 million: Braves closer Craig Kimbrel agreed to a 4-year, $42 million deal last season that includes a $1 million club buyout option in 2018. Kimbrel can earn an additional $3.5 million, through the life of the contract, in performance bonuses.

Freddie Freeman, 1B, $8.5 million: The Braves avoided arbitration with first baseman Freddie Freeman by signing him to a $135 million extension prior to last season. Freeman will make more than $20 a season in the final five years of the deal, which runs through 2021.

Chris Johnson, 3B, $6 million: The Braves signed third baseman Chris Johnson to a 3-year, $23.5 million extension last season. The deal includes a $1 million club buyout option for 2018.

Andrelton Simmons, SS, $3 million: The Braves signed shortstop Andrelton Simmons to an extension worth $58 million last season. His pay will gradually increase $2 million to $3 million to $15 million in 2020.

Julio Teheran, RHP, $1 million: Braves starter Julio Teheran agreed to a 6-year, $32.4 million extension. Teheran's pay rises to $3.3 million in 2016 and caps at $12 million in 2020.
