Just four days after announcing that Andrew Tinnish was hired as Braves vice president of amateur and international scouting, the team announced Friday that Tinnish withdrew from the position for “personal family considerations.”

Tinnish, 41, will remain with the Blue Jays, where he has served as assistant general manager since 2012.

“I know this was a difficult decision for Andrew, but it is one that he made with his family’s best interests in mind,” Braves general manager Alex Anthopoulos said in a prepared statement. “We wish Andrew and his family all the best in their future endeavors.”

The Braves aren’t expected to replace Tinnish, who was to fill a position that had been created specifically for him. Brian Bridges was to remain in his scouting director position even after the hiring of Tinnish, and that won’t change.

Tinnish worked with Anthopoulos when the latter was GM of the Blue Jays for six seasons through 2015. Before becoming assistant GM with the Blue Jays, Tinnish served three years as director of amateur scouting and three as an assistant scouting director with the team.

Anthopoulos was hired Nov. 13 as Braves GM, replacing John Coppolella, who was forced to resign Oct. 2 amid a Major League Baseball investigation into rule violations by the Braves in the areas of international free agency and the domestic draft.

Last week MLB stripped the Braves of 13 prospects who were declared free agents, and the commissioner announced that Coppolella was banned from baseball for life.
