The Braves won their weekend series opener against the Mets 3-2, with the help from a wise call by manager Brian Snitker and a timely sacrifice fly from Lane Adams, who entered the game for an injured Matt Kemp in the fifth.

It moved the Braves to 6-7 against the Mets this season, with five matchups remaining. Holding a 34-39 home record with eight games left, the Braves have a slight chance to avoid consecutive losing seasons at home for the first time since 1988-90.

Here’s the latest from SunTrust Park:

1. Ronald Acuna is in the house this weekend for winning the organizational Player of The Year award. He shared his feelings regarding the Braves' decision not to promote him when rosters expanded.

2. Once Acuna's teammate in Double-A, Mike Soroka won the Braves' organizational pitcher of the year honors. He sat down with the AJC to discuss his growth as a player and person this season.

3. Jason Motte was reactivated and rejoined the bullpen Friday. Motte has a 4.00 ERA across 36 innings this season. Jim Johnson was throwing yesterday, but there’s no timetable for his return.

4. Catcher Tyler Flowers will be out of the lineup until Tuesday with a bruised left hand, Snitker said. Flowers was hit by a pitch in his final plate appearance in Washington on Wednesday.

5. Starter Mike Foltynewicz left Thursday's start after four innings with a cut on his finger. Foltynewicz likely will miss his next start (Wednesday), with Max Fried or Lucas Sims likely to get the nod, according to Snitker.
