The Braves have put up impressive offensive numbers through the first four games, even after scoring just once Monday.
Here are some tidbits about the offense thus far:
1) The Braves’ .285 average as a team ranks second-best in the majors. Their .360 on-base percentage ranks sixth while their .438 slugging comes in ninth.
2) First baseman Freddie Freeman’s eight walks through four games are tied for the franchise’s most since at least 1908. Eddie Mathews did the same in 1955.
3) The Braves lead the majors in hitting with runners in scoring position (.432). They’re significantly higher than the next two teams, Los Angeles and San Diego (both are .345).
4) With 28 runs in four games, the Braves rank tied for the second most in baseball, trailing the Nationals by one.
5) Third baseman Ryan Flaherty has been a pleasant surprise. The 31-year-old has a hit in every game, including a historic showing Saturday.
Flaherty became the third Braves third baseman to have four hits and score four runs in the same game, joining Chipper Jones (1995, 2000, 2001) and Terry Pendleton (1991).
