Reliever Shae Simmons struck out three Wednesday in his second injury rehab appearance at Gwinnett.

Simmons started the game for the G-Braves and allowed a leadoff single to center. After a stolen base, Simmons walked the next two batters to load the bases. After that he struck out three consecutive batters, the first two called out on strikes.

Tyrell Jenkins relieved Simmons and got the win for the G-Braves, who defeated the Durham Bulls 4-2. Jenkins (4-2) pitched six innings. He allowed seven hits and two runs. He walked three and struck out one.

Ozzie Albies led off the bottom of the first with a home run to jump-start a three-run inning.

Simmons also struck out three batters Tuesday in his first Gwinnett appearance. In that game he pitched one inning and allowed one hit and no runs to go with one walk.

Simmons’ two-game total: two innings pitched, six strikeouts, no runs, two hits and three walks.

The Braves' righty reliever underwent Tommy John surgery in February 2015. He went on the disabled list July 29, 2014, during his rookie season, and hasn't pitched since.

He made his major league debut May 31, 2014 and was effective quickly.
