Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna left Sunday’s game in Philadelphia early following a collision at second base.

During the seventh inning, Acuna darted for second, successfully swiping the bag but ramming into Phillies shortstop Jean Segura.

Segura exited immediately and was helped off the field. Acuna stayed in to run the bases but was lifted in the bottom of the frame due to neck stiffness.

“It’s still a little stiff and a little sore,” Acuna said after the game, via team interpreter Franco Garcia. “But hopefully tomorrow we’ll check on it and I’ll be available to play.”

Acuna said it felt much better post-game than it did during the game, when the pain worsened. He still expects to be in the lineup for Monday’s opener in Washington.

“We’ll just wait until tomorrow and see how he feels,” manager Brian Snitker said. “He may be stiffened up, but I think he’s feeling better now than he did when he came out of the game. The doctors checked him, everything looks good. There’s nothing bad. It was a neck muscle.”

It’s been an unfortunate week for the Braves injury-wise. They’ve already lost Nick Markakis until September and Dansby Swanson for the next week. But they avoided any serious concern with Acuna.
