Slugging third baseman Todd Frazier made sense for the Braves on paper, but the New Jersey native is staying close to home with the Mets.

The two-year, $17 million agreement between the Mets and Frazier was first reported Monday night by Fox’s Ken Rosenthal.

Regarded for his power and plus defense, Frazier would’ve been an ideal bridge player as the Braves consider their options at third base, especially at such a modest price.

Frazier slashed .213/.344/.428 with the White Sox and Yankees a season ago. He's hit 27, 40 and 35 home runs across the past three years, respectively, which would've made him a welcome addition to a team starved for power.

It’s unclear how serious a play the Braves made for the 31-year-old, but it further dwindles a barren third base market that could result in Johan Camargo and Rio Ruiz competing for the starting job in spring training.
