A recap of the Braves’ loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla.

How the game was won: The Rays scored six runs in the seventh inning against Braves relief pitchers for a 9-6 victory. Braves rookie left-hander Matt Marksberry allowed five runs and Ryan Kelly allowed another as the Rays overcame a 6-3 deficit in the seventh. The Braves lost both games against the Rays in the interleague series and are 5-9 in games against American League teams this season with six more to go.

Number: 169. Consecutive chances without an error by Braves shortstop Andrelton Simmons.

Next: The Braves have a day off and then play the Diamondbacks at 7:35 p.m. Friday on Fox Sports South. Braves RP Julio Teheran (7-6, 4.57 ERA) faces Diamondbacks LP Robbie Ray (3-7, 3.13).
