Former Braves prospect Jose Peraza made his major league debut Monday at second base for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The 21-year-old became the youngest position player to debut for the Dodgers since Adrian Beltre in June 1998.

Batting second, Peraza flied out in his first at-bat, but showed his speed in his next plate appearance turning a single into a triple on a misplayed ball by Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper. He had a walk and struck out once.

Peraza faired well on the field, bobbling the first ball that came his way in the first inning, but recovering. The Dodgers lost 8-3.

Peraza was called up to replace Dodgers second baseman Howie Kendrick, who went on the disabled list with a hamstring strain. Peraza had been batting .385 in 10 games at triple-A Oklahoma City  since being acquired from Atlanta in a three-team, 13-player trade July 30.
