What offseason?
A day after game 162, the Braves engaged an upheaval that involved the resignation of general manager John Coppolella and head of international scouting Gordon Blakeley for what MLB called a break of international market rules Monday.
While that cloud hangs over the organization for the foreseeable future, it also adds another task to an already long list: Finding a general manager in the turning point of a rebuild.
Here’s what happened yesterday, in case you missed it:
1. Coppolella is under investigation for several infractions. John Hart will temporarily serve as GM while the franchise searches for a permanent replacement. Hart addressed the issues on Monday.
2. As for possible replacements, it's believed Royals GM Dayton Moore and Nationals special assistant Dan Jennings are among the preferred candidates. Moore may be a trickier case, given that he'd likely need a promotion to leave his current position.
3. The unexpected drama delayed the team's decision on manager Brian Snitker. They're expected to announce that mid-week, with Snitker likely staying put.
