Milo Hamilton, who famously called Hank Aaron's 715th home run on Braves radio in 1974, has died. He was 88.
Hamilton called Major League Baseball games on radio and television from the 1950s through 2012, including almost a decade for the Atlanta Braves.
"We are deeply saddened to hear of Milo Hamilton’s passing," the Braves said in a statement. "Fans in Braves country and throughout the nation fondly remember his iconic call of our own Hank Aaron breaking Babe Ruth’s home run record in 1974. That call is etched into Major League Baseball history and will never be forgotten."
Hamilton got his start in St. Louis, calling games for the Browns in 1953 and the Cardinals the following year. He was a broadcaster for the Chicago Cubs (1956-57, 1980-84), Chicago White Sox (1962-65), Braves (1966-75), Pittsburgh Pirates (1976-79) and the Houston Astros from 1985 through 2012.
Hamilton was the 1992 recipient of the Ford Frick Award from the National Baseball Hall of Fame for contributions across seven decades.
