Braves starter Mike Soroka had a memorable first full season. He made the All-Star team and learned Wednesday that he finished sixth in National League Cy Young voting.

Soroka, 22, received nine points, which ranked him sixth behind winner Jacob deGrom (207), Hyun-Jin Ryu (88), Max Scherzer (72), Jack Flaherty (69) and Stephen Strasburg (53).

Votes were submitted before the postseason by 30 BBWAA members. Soroka received one third-place vote and six fifth-place votes.

Soroka’s rookie season was one of the best in Braves history. The Canadian right-hander owned a 2.68 ERA with 142 strikeouts against 41 walks. His 1.55 road ERA led the majors.

His 2018 season was cut short after five starts because of shoulder inflammation. He missed spring training because of another shoulder issue, but rebounded to make 29 starts, pitching 174-2/3 innings.

Soroka peaked with his lone postseason start, allowing one run over seven innings at St. Louis in Game 3 of the NL Division Series.

He finished runner-up for rookie of the year, announced Monday, receiving the only first-place vote that didn’t go to Mets slugger Pete Alonso.
