Braves lefty Max Fried exited during the second inning of Tuesday’s game in Los Angeles after being hit in the left hand on a comebacker.

Fried, making his first start against his hometown team, couldn’t avoid a ball hit by Alex Verdugo. The Braves checked on him and he attempted to warm up but was removed briefly thereafter.

X-Rays were negative and Fried is considered day-to-day with a left-hand contusion, the team announced.

The Dodger Stadium crowd had a resounding wince when the action was replayed on the big screen.

The first inning, in which Fried allowed three earned runs, was his worst inning of the season. He was charged with another run in the second inning.
