Braves starter Luiz Gohara will throw his second bullpen session Wednesday since he was stalled in spring training by groin tightness last week.

Gohara said he feels good after throwing for the first time Monday. If Wednesday goes well, he’ll move forward with live batting practice before making a start.

“I feel pretty good,” he said. “And I got back to the mound to throw again. That means I’m not going to be that long. … I have a lot of time, outside of work, to work on my issues in spring, so that makes me feel much better knowing I have another month to get practicing and have a chance to play in the game.”

The 21-year-old lefty is a presumed favorite for one of two open rotation spots behind veterans Julio Teheran, Mike Foltynewicz and Brandon McCarthy. He impressed in  September in a five-start sample, posting 31 strikeouts against eight walks in 29-1/3 innings.

Gohara strained his left groin running sprints during the first week of workouts. It put him at least a week behind his colleagues, though it helps the Braves won't need a fifth starter until the third week of the season.
