The Braves and Chicago Cubs are working on a deal to bring Cubs first baseman Derrek Lee to Atlanta for some lower-tier minor league prospects. -- Carroll Rogers, AJC

AJC Braves beat writer David O'Brien knows Lee from years of covering him with the Marlins and says he's as classy as you get. Lee played with Florida from 1998-2003. -- Carroll Rogers, AJC

As a member of the Marlins, Lee (with Ivan Rodriguez) was a member of the 2003 World Series-winning team.

In 2005, with the Cubs, Lee was NL batting champion. For his career, Lee boasts a .282 average with 305 home runs and 991 RBI.

But don't let Lee's reported 'good guy' manner fool you. He's known for his share of scraps with opponents, like San Diego pitcher Chris Young in 2007...

... and this year's dugout set-to with teammate Carlos Zambrano, the high-priced and hot-tempered Cubs starter.
