The Braves optioned rookie right-hander Tyrell Jenkins to Triple-A Gwinnett and reinstated rookie right-hander John Gant from the 15-day disabled list.

Jenkins, 24, had a second straight rough outing Saturday when the Nationals scored eight runs in the fourth inning during an 11-9 victory. Since being promoted from Gwinnett in June Jenkins had a 6.20 ERA in 12 games (eight starts) with 24 strikeouts and 32 non-intentional walks over 49 1/3 innings.

Gant went to the DL on June 28 because of a strained left oblique. He’s been back and forth between Gwinnett and the big leagues and has posted a 4.45 ERA in 11 games overall with a 3.38 ERA in four starts.
