Catcher Gerald Laird, also in an injury rehab game, was 0-for-3. The IronPigs outhit the G-Braves 16-8, with Cody Overbeck and Mitchell delivering three hits apiece to pace their offense.

On the mound: Gwinnett starter Yohan Flande (7-7) allowed 10 hits and walked one in five innings, but gave up only three runs. He struck out five.

Up next for Gwinnett: The G-Braves (51-70) and the IronPigs (61-60) meet again at 7:05 p.m. Saturday. Right-hander Cody Martin (2-3, 2.96 ERA) is scheduled to start for Gwinnett against left-hander Greg Smith (6-2, 2.50).
