After their pitchers struggled Friday night in a 7-3 loss to the Phillies, the Braves need a victory Saturday night to keep alive their chances of winning this weekend series in Philadelphia.

Mike Foltynewicz will try to rebound from his worst start of the season. He gave up three hits and walked four in 4-2/3 innings April 23 against the Reds. Otherwise, the big right-hander had shown signs of settling into the rhythm of a dependable starter.

Braves starting pitchers have averaged 5.3 innings per start thus far, so the Braves’ bullpen would benefit from an extending outing by Foltynewicz.

With the loss Friday, the Braves fell to 2-1/2 games behind the first-place Mets in the National League East, but remain in third. The Phillies maintained their standing in the division, a half-game behind the Mets.
