How the game was won: Buster Posey's two-run homer in the first inning was the only scoring against Braves starter Mike Foltynewicz, but the Giants added two runs in the eighth against reliever Jim Johnson to pad their lead in a 4-2 win at AT&T Park. Longtime former Brave Tim Hudson allowed five hits and one run in seven innings for the win, and Braves rookie Mike Foltynewicz took the loss despite a strong performance (6 2/3, five hits, two runs, one walk, career-high eight strikeouts).

What's next: The Braves and Giants play the third game in a four-game series Saturday at 10:05 p.m. (Eastern). Rookie Williams Perez (0-0, 4.05 ERA) makes his third major league start against Giants veteran Tim Lincecum (5-2, 2.56).
