Gausman to start Sunday, if not used out of bullpen Friday night

Kevin John Gausman was born Jan. 6, 1991 in Centennial, Colorado. Gausman played college baseball at LSU. Gausman was the fourth player drafted in the 2012 draft, by the Orioles. Gausman made his major league debut May 23, 2013 at the Blue Jays. Gausman was 39-51 with a 4.22 ERA for the Orioles, in 127 starts and 23 relief appearances. The Braves acquired Gausman on July 31, 2018 (with Darren O’Day) for four minor-leaguers and future considerations. Nick Markakis occupied the locker next to Gausman in 201

Kevin Gausman tentatively is scheduled to start Game 3 of the National League Division Series against the Dodgers on Sunday.

The Braves who enter Friday's game down 1-0 in the series, will turn to Gausman, pending his availability, manager Brian Snitker said.

Gausman is available out of the bullpen for Game 2, which was started by Anibal Sanchez. As long as the Braves didn't require his services Friday, he'll start the game at SunTrust Park.

The Braves acquired Gausman from Baltimore at the trade deadline. He has been among the team's more solid starters, eating innings and keeping his team in most contests.

If there's a Game 4 on Monday, the Braves will consider bringing back Mike Foltynewicz on short rest, Snitker said. They could also turn to Julio Teheran or Touki Toussaint.
