Evan Gattis returned to the Braves lineup Saturday after missing the previous four games recovering from a viral illness.

Gattis had been taking batting practice for the past couple of days but needed to regain his strength after dealing with stomach-related symptoms.

Gattis had tried to catch Tuesday night against the Brewers, but felt ill warming up Julio Teheran in the bullpen. Gerald Laird started each of the past four games in his place.

“We talked to the doctor this morning,” Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said. “He said just keep an eye on him with the heat, and see how he feels. He’s going to have to give us some input (on) how he feels and let him go.”

Temperature at first pitch Saturday, which was at 4:12 p.m., was 89 degrees.
